Mahia Beach

on New Zealand's Historic East Coast

There are no lifeguards at Mahia's beaches. Children and weak swimmers should not swim alone.

The best beach to swim at is the main Mahia Beach. The beach is fairly sheltered and provides a safe experience for all levels of swimmers unless the swell is large.

Rips are uncommon at Mahia Beach but use caution and know what to do.

At the main Mahia Beach, there are public toilets next to the Mahia Boating & Fishing Club.

During the summer months there are also often food vendors here.

For other beaches, refer to our list of Public Toilets in Mahia.
